A group of 14 MCA Central Committee (CC) members have demanded that an extraordinary general meeting be held, following the committee's decision to lift Datuk Tee Siew Kiong's three-year suspension from the party.

MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the decision to overturn the suspension contravened the party's resolution which stated that party members should decline all government appointments due to MCA's poor showing in the May 5 general election.

Speaking to reporters here today, he stressed that Tee's suspension should be reinstated.

"The president (Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek) had on May 6, directed all members who held government posts to resign with immediate effect, besides instructing newly-elected members of parliament and state assemblymen to refrain from accepting any government appointment.

"The directives were reaffirmed by the presidential council on May 11, and Tee attended the meeting but he never disclosed that he had already accepted the appointment (as Johor state executive councillor)," explained Liow.
