Celcom Axiata Bhd has won the 2012 Asian Supply Chain Excellence Awards' Collaborative Supply Chain Special Award from the International Institute for Advanced Purchasing & Supply (IIAPS).

Celcom Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly said the company viewed the award as recognition of the strong strategic directions it had taken over the past few years in transforming the organisation from the ground up through new orientations in change management, increased efficiency and consistency.

"Much in the same way we have introduced groundbreaking customer management systems, our four-pronged approach to our supply chain transformation involves segmentation, relationship-building efforts, rationalisation initiatives, and supplier development efforts with national agencies and government bodies," he said in a statement.

Celcom was the sole Malaysian contender among six other shortlisted global companies including International Business Machines Corporation, Dell Inc and Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG, all of which were selected based on operational execution, results and innovative thinking.

The IIAPS Asian Supply Chain Excellence Award selection committee consists of a panel of experts in Asian supply chains consisting of industry leaders, academics, and service providers.
