Celcom Axiata Bhd is offering its customers the convenience of using mobile phones to remit money via a remittance service, Doowit.

In a statement today, it said the service facilitates the transfer of funds in a quick, secure and hassle free-way, through their mobile phones from anywhere and anytime.

Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Zalman Aefendy Zainal Abidin said customers can be assured that this is a secure mode and a useful financial tool, especially for foreign workers, who may grapple with limited time and work irregular hours.

"With Doowit, customers can avoid queuing for hours for the traditional over-the-counter remittance procedures.

"This service is now available at 46 selected Blue Cube outlets nationwide and will be rolled out in phases at other channels like Celcom Xclusive Partners," he added.

Zalman said to utilise the service, customers simply need to register for it on their mobile phones.

The sender and receiver of the fund transfer will receive a short message service (SMS) notification upon completion of the transaction.

Doowit offers competitive exchange rates and low remittance fees, from from as low as RM7.50, and subject to the six per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST).
