Football fans with record as hooligans may be blacklisted and barred from entering stadiums to watch football matches.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this move would be proposed by the police and Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

"The ministry is mulling to make football fans write their names and identification card numbers on tickets to identify the hooligans," he said in a written reply to Manivanan Gowindasamy (PKR-Kapar) who asked on efforts to address indiscipline among Malaysian football fans.

Khairy told Parliament that Malaysia's big loss to United Arab Emirates (UAE) was because the players were short on fitness as they had to play a packed league and international friendly matches.

"Several key players were also missing from the line-up due to injury such as Junior Eldstal and Joseph Kalang Tie."

Malaysia suffered a humiliating 0-10 loss to UAE in an Asian Cup 2019 qualifying match on Sept 3.
