Age is not a hindrance for the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary-general Datuk Sieh Kok Chi to continue to contribute for the development of sports in the country.

"I'll continue to lead. I have no personal or hidden agenda to continue to hold this post. I admit I am old, but I'm still able to lead.

"I'll let go of the post anytime when I feel I no longer have the capability," he said when met by reporters after the OCM annual meeting here today.

Sieh, 75, succeeded in defending the post, previously known as Honorary Secretary, since taking over the post from the late Thong Poh Nyen on Nov 28, 1992.

In the OCM election today, Sieh obtained 62 votes, defeating his deputy, T. Kumar, 44, who managed to secure 36 votes.

Meanwhile, Kumar, despite losing the contest, said he was satisfied with the result.

He said the presence of new faces in the council would give it a new facelift.

The new OCM deputy president, Tan Sri Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahim, said he was satisfied with the combination of the new and old in the council and promised to be more open to help improve the performance of local sports.
