Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied tendering his resignation as claimed by a post on the messaging application WhatsApp that had been circulating since Sunday night.

He dismissed the post as a rumour and urged people to immediately stop spreading it.

He said there's no such thing as him resigning. In fact, he had just attended a meeting with the state's economic planning unit.

Abdul Khalid added that the spreading of the rumour was an act of disrespect during this holy month of Ramadan.

The WhatsApp message on Sunday had claimed that Abdul Khalid would be meeting the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to submit a resignation letter. This morning, another message was circulated claiming that he has done so, citing Malaysian National News Agency, Bernama, as the source.

Bernama, however, has denied spreading such news on Abdul Khalid's resignation.

Previously, it was also 'reported' that Abdul Khalid would step down as MB following a discussion between the top leadership of PKR, DAP and PAS.
