KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Information Chief, Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, has stressed that sincerity and honesty should be the basis for a political cooperation.

According to him, that nature is important in ensuring that a coalition of political parties is seen as the people's concern and caring with the fate of the people.

“In today’s atmosphere, all we need is sincerity and honesty to be kind and help the people, and not acting rhetoric that seems sincere and honest but actually just wanting to monopolise power for self-interest,” he said in a statement today.

He said this in reaction to the statement on Friday by PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who wanted a political alignment to be established by adopting a mature and prosperous political culture.

Commenting on the matter, Wan Saiful welcomed Abdul Hadi's view which called on all Muslim groups to save the country in a new pact.

In fact, he agreed with Abdul Hadi's statement to reject politics that aims solely to save the personalities of the leader and his group regardless of the people's grievances about the effects of the epidemic that befell the world.

"The PAS president's view is very accurate that the core of the administration of this Perikatan Nasional government is integrity.

“We don’t want the country’s bad experience to recur when many administrative institutions were damaged by corruption and abuse of power not too long ago.

"Bersatu was established to be a new Malay party that fights for integrity, good governance, eradication of corruption and abuse of power, and to guarantee the independence of the judiciary and national legislation.

"So, the emphasis given by the PAS president is very accurate and very appropriate," he said.
