Three-term Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob will defend the Pelangai state seat while incumbent Datuk Seri Dr Jamaludin Jarjis will remain in the Rompin parliamentary constituency, ending
speculation that he will vie a state seat.

Adnan said this when announcing the list of Pahang Barisan National (BN) candidates, who included 12 newcomers, and handing over the letters of authorisation to them here today.

The new faces in the state constituencies of Tras, Beserah, Tanjung Lumpur, Peramu Jaya, Luit, Chenor, Kuala Semantan, Bilut, Ketari, Sabai, Triang and Bukit Ibam.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will defend the Pekan parliamentary seat, MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel will be fielded in Cameron Highlands while Pahang MCA deputy chairman Datuk Hoh Khai Mun will move from the Bilut state seat to the Raub parliamentary seat, replacing Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen.

The Jerantut parliamentary seat will be contested by newcomer Ahmad Nazlan Idris who is replacing Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar while the Indera Mahkota parliamentary seat will be vied by Datuk Wan Adnan Wan Mamat, who is incumbent Tanjung Lumpur assemblyman.

Political secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Mohamad Suffian Awang will take on Parti Keadilan Rakyat's Fuziah Salleh for the Kuantan parliamentary seat.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will defend the Bera parliamentary seat.

Nine other parliamentary seats will be defended by incumbents.

Two state executive councillors were dropped from the list, namely Datuk Ishak Mohamed (Bebar) and Datuk Mohamad Sahfri Ab Aziz (Bukit Ibam).

The BN will field three women, namely incumbent Datuk Maznah Mazlan who will defend the Muadzam Shah state seat, incumbent Datuk Shahaniza Shamsuddin (Kuala Sentul), and newcomer Nurhidayah Mohamad Shahaimi (Luit).

Pahang has 14 parliamentary seats and 42 state seats in Pahang.
