Five teenagers were injured, two seriously, while 11 others were detained by police after two groups of Malay teenagers clashed at the Wangsa Walk Shopping Mall, Monday.

Wangsa Maju police chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said the 11 individuals (all boys) were detained after the 9pm incident.

"It was a clash among teenagers from Desa Rejang and Ulu Kelang because the brother of a 15-year-old teenage girl, had tried to end the relationship between his sister and her boyfriend.

"It was also not a racial clash as claimed by some on social media," he told Bernama, Monday.

During the clash, five suffered injuries, two seriously, after being attacked with helmets and motorcycle fork.

"Those injured were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment," he said.
