Students of the International Islamic University, (IIUM) created a record in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) when they produced the university's logo with 19,300 pieces of doughnuts.

MBR representative, Zulhairi Md Zin said IIUM was the first university in the country to create a 10 metre by 10.2 metre logo with doughnuts by 400 students.

"The logo has been recognised as a new record based on the criteria set by MBR," he said at the MBR certificate presentation ceremony here today.

The event called 'Doughnut of Hope' was a welfare programme in aid of orphans through the symbolic distribution of doughnuts, said UIAM Student Representative Council's carnivals executive director, Muhammad Faris Zaidi.

He said the doughnuts would be distributed to orphanages in the Klang Valley including Asrama Damai, Taman Pendidikan Anak-anak Yatim Darul Kifayah and Pertubuhan Penyayang Raudhah as well as to IIUM students, lecturers and staff.
