Two workers of a logging camp were drowned, while four others managed to swim to safety, when a boat they were in capsized while crossing Sungai Kanowit, near Nanga Machan, Saturday.

The bodies of Kiung Teck Ying, 24, and Ngian Seng Chu, 25, were found by members of the search and rescue team, comprising personnel from the Fire and Rescue Department, the police and villagers, a few hours after the 12.45 pm tragedy.

Kiung's body was found at 3.55 pm, while that of Ngian at about 6.40 pm, about 30 metres from where the boat capsized.

Kanowit district police chief DSP Ismail Mahmood, when contacted, said the two bodies had been sent to Kanowit Hospital for post mortem.

He said the manager of the logging camp, Kong Chek Fong, had lodged a police report on the incident.
