MAKKAH: Convenient, informative and user-friendly.

These are the advantages that can be enjoyed from using the four applications developed by Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), namely THhujjaj, Hajjmobility, E-Taib and E-bimbingan, when in Makkah for the Haj season this year.

TH Information Technology Division director of operations Shamsul Kamar Hussein Kamal said the applications were not only an important information channel for staff but could also be a reference for various questions by 14,306 Malaysian pilgrims.

He said users, even the elderly who are not tech-savvy, would be able to master the applications in a short period of time.

"Actually, there is an increased understanding of information technology among senior citizens now but those who have problems will be assisted by the staff members, especially when it comes to using the THhujjaj.

The THhujjaj is easy to use, even for first-time pilgrims, because everything related to the Haj pilgrimage can be obtained from the application," he told reporters when met at the Al Jandriah Building here.

Shamsul Kamar said the TH IT team used the two years they had stayed away from Makkah, due to COVID-19, to improve the existing system and even managed to create new applications.

Given that technology is moving so fast, he said TH ensured it obtained the best and latest system so as not to inconvenience the pilgrims.

"The digitalisation development process was done after TH saw the need to facilitate the congregation ... we started this THhujjaj over four years ago, including studying what can be improved by making various trial versions.

"It was completed during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period two years ago, but the test sessions could not be carried out because this system can only be used in Makkah," he explained.

He added that Hajjmobility would assist staff in monitoring all movements of the pilgrims, especially in arranging transportation and accommodation, besides helping to cut down on the occurrence of management errors.
