Former Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee Yazid Sufaat and two others will be remanded at the Ampang Sessions court in Pandan Indah Friday morning.

The trio were detained for their allege involvement in terrorist activities and are the first to be arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 which replaced the ISA.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Ismail Omar, had in his press release on Thursday, stated that police had arrested the two men and a woman for promoting terrorism as they were suspected to be the mastermind in recruiting several Malaysians for terrorism activities.

Yazid was held under the ISA in December 2001 due to alleged involvement with terrorism activities after the al-Qaeda attacks on the Twin Towers in New York the same year.

He was released in December 2008.
