Only three schools will remain closed tomorrow - two in Setiu and one in Hulu Terengganu - as flood conditions continue to improve in the state, says Terengganu state Education Department director Shafruddin Ali Hussin.

He said eight of the 11 schools closed today would be commencing their 2017 school session tomorrow as the roads to the schools were now passable to traffic.

"Two schools in Setiu, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Besut and SK Sungai Las which are still flooded will remain closed. SK Getang in Hulu Terengganu will also be closed tomorrow as it has just been inundated by floods just now," he told Bernama.

He said the postponement of school session involved 50 pupils and 13 teachers in SK Sungai Las, 116 pupils and 18 teachers in SK Kampung Besut as well as 27 teachers and 151 pupils in SK Getang.

"We hope the floods in Terengganu will subside quickly so that the school session can proceed smoothly while the three schools which will be closed tomorrow will resume operations as soon as possible," he said. - BERNAMA
