A Year Six pupil from Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Tongkang, Pulau Sebatik, is believed to have drowned near the Kg Sungai Tongkang jetty while swimming with his friends Friday.

Sabah Marine Police chief ACP Mohammad Madun said the victim, Gusti Mohmin Badrul Ezam Amin Mokhtar, 12, drowned at about 5pm, during high tide.

"The victim is believed to have drowned as he wasn't a good swimmer,” he said in a statement here Saturday.

He said the post-mortem report showed that there was no foul play in the boy's death.

Madun said the victim's body was later claimed by his family from Kampung Bergosong at 11am Saturday.
