Most states recorded good results in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2015 examination announced today, with some recording full pass percentages of one to five subjects surpassing the national percentage.

In KOTA BHARU, the overall full pass percentage of candidates for Kelantan was 98.26 percent or 3,447 candidates, surpassing the national level achievement of 97.64 percent or 40,995 candidates.

State education department (JPN) director Datuk Ab Aziz Abdullah said 2,622 candidates or 75.2 percent scored five and four principals from an overall 4,176 candidates compared to 2,722 candidates (72.86 percent) from 4,662 students in 2014.

In PAHANG, 2,139 or 98.89 percent of candidates achieved full pass, namely, at least one subject passed in full as compared to 2,363 or 99.08 percent in 2014.

State education department director, Datuk Rosdi Ismail said 21 candidates achieved the highest result, namely, a national Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) of 4.0, compared to 24 candidates, previously.

In MALACCA, 1,245 or 98.65 percent of the STPM 2015 candidates scored full passes compared to 1,216 or 98.94 percent the previous year.

Malacca Education Department director Abu Bakar Sahari said the number of candidates obtaining CGPA of 3.0 and upwards went up to 488 people or 38.64 percent compared to 460 candidates or 37.52 percent in the previous year, with 20 candidates receiving a CGPA of 4.0.

In ALOR SETAR, 3,011 of 3,062 or 99.05 percent of STPM 2015 candidates recorded full pass results, said state education department director Datuk Azuyah Hassan.

He said 24 candidates obtained CGPA of 4.0 last year compared to 28 students in 2014.

In SEREMBAN, nine STPM 2015 candidates obtained CGPA of 4.00 comprising two science students and seven arts students.

Negeri Sembilan Education Department director, Rusni Ab Jalil said 1,305 of 1,338 candidates passed and obtained at least one subject at principal level, namely, 97.5 percent compared to 98.3 percent in 2014.

In KANGAR, state education department director, Izmi Ismail said 472 or 98.54 percent of 2015 STPM candidates scored full passes, an improvement of 0.19 percent compared to 477 or 98.35 percent the previous year.

In KUCHING, Sarawak Education Department director Rakayah Madon said the results of STPM in the state indicated a drop in the CGPA, recording a CGPA of 2.48, compared to that of 2.49 in 2014.

In SHAH ALAM, 4,109 OR 96.77 percent of STPM candidates scored full passes compared to 97.05 percent in 2014, a drop of 0.28 percent.

Selangor JPN director, Zainuren Mohd Nor said the number of candidates scoring CGPA of 4.0 stood at 40, as compared to 51 candidates at the STPM 2014.

In SABAH, JPN director Datuk Jame Alip announced that 97.30 percent or 5,892 of 6,055 STPM candidates in the state recorded full passes.

In PERAK, 4,010 or 97.72 per cent of candidates obtained full passes compared to 98.01 percent in 2014, namely, a drop of 0.59 percent.

State JPN director Rozi Puteh said 49 candidates in the state obtained CGPA of 4.0 compared to 53 people the previous year.

In PENANG, 26 candidates out of 2,267 in the state obtained a CGPA of 4.0, while of the overall total of STPM 2015 candidates, 2,264 candidates or 97.53 percent had qualified for a certificate compared to 97.05 percent in 2014.

In KUALA TERENGGANU, 1,534 candidates obtained full passes compared to 1,453 people the previous year.

In JOHOR, 50 STPM candidates scored a CGPA of 4.0 compared to only 43 in 2014.

According to its JPN director, Aminudin Adam, 29, were from the arts stream and the rest from science stream.

The number of candidates who had full passes in five and four subjects also rose by 5.08 percent from 3,434 candidates in 2014 to 3,712 people.

Overall, he said rural STPM candidates in the state fared better than urban students.
