Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) staff and officers will face stern action, including termination of service, if they were found involved in selling national information to outsiders.

Its director-general, Datuk Mohd Amdan Kurish, the same action would also be taken against the staff and officers who violated the law by showing support to certain quarters with personal agenda.

"We always give special attention to this matter. If we can prove the involvement of any of our staff or officer in the activity that can threaten national security, we will not hesitate to take stern action against them," he told reporters after attending the breaking-of-fast event with staff of Tawau MMEA here today.

He said all MMEA regional, district and base chiefs had also been instructed to monitor their staff so that they would not get involved in such an activity.
