The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission says it is in no way disputing or challenging the decision of Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali to clear Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak of cases against him.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said the referral of the AG's decision to MACC's Operations Review Panel was a standard operating procedure in closing any case.
"For the sake of clarity, the Attorney-General's powers over all criminal proceedings are conferred on him by Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution.
These powers are absolute and cannot be challenged by any authority," he said in a statement today.

He alluded to media reports today claiming that MACC personnel had been giving unauthorised briefings to the media and making various allegations.
"Let me be very clear - if this is true, it will not be tolerated and action will be taken. I'm instructing for a police report to be filed so this matter can be independently investigated," Abu Kassim said.
Abu Kassim stressed that MACC officers must uphold the highest ethical standards and would be held to account for the oath of office that they had taken.
"Going forward, no statement by any individual should be represented by the media as the official position of MACC on these cases unless it has been released by MACC's official Strategic Communication Division upon my approval," he said.
On Tuesday, the AG's Chambers cleared Najib of any wrongdoing over a RM2.6 billion donation and SRC International.
