Six men, suspected to be members of the so-called IS group of militants were charged in the magistrate's court here today, with criminal conspiracy and plotting terror attacks in the country.

They allegedly belonged to a group which planned several terror attacks on among others, entertainment centres in the Klang Valley.

The six comprised two fertiliser trader brothers - Mohd Anwar Azmi, 33, and Mohd Nurkamal Azmi, 30; storekeeper Mohd Hafifi Tarmizi, 25; water dealer Izwan Shameer Suzaimi, 25; tyre shop worker Muhammad Luqman Hakim Abdul Aziz, 22; and a 17-year-old boy.

The alleged conspiracy took place at No: 2, lot 3917, Kampung Bistari, Sungai Michu, Bt 13, Hulu Langat here between 7pm and 1am on April 24 and 25.

The accused who were wearing T-shirts appeared calm and nodded in unison that they understood the charge when it was read out before magistrate Abdul Jalil Salam Muhamad.

No plea was recorded.

Deputy public prosecutor Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin objected to bail on the grounds the offence was non-bailable.

There was no objection from lawyer Norfazrin Ahmad who represented the brothers. The other four accused were unrepresented.

On April 25 and 26, the six accused were among 12 men who were arrested by local police on suspicion of being members of IS.

Aged between 17 and 41, they were nabbed in Hulu Langat and Cheras and were suspected to have been plotting attacks on strategic targets and government property in the Klang Valley.
