The accident which happened around 4.20pm involved a Perodua Myvi and Proton Saga.
Among the victims who perished in the accident were two children.
Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department communications officer, Bazri Abdul Rahman said among the injured were a man, a woman, a teen and a child.
He said there were three other victims still trapped in the wreckage.
Five of the victims were identified as Irwan Mohd Zain, 33; Siti Khadijah Ibrahim, 33; Muhammad Zahrin Ariq Irwan, six months; Muhammad Zahran Arfan Irwan, four, and Nurul Atiqah Abd Aziz, 19, according to Bernama.
All victims were sent to Machang hospital.
Machang district acting police chief DSP Ashraff Ali Kutti said initial investigation revealed the Perodua Myvi and Proton Saga had collided in the incident at about 4.20 pm.
"Investigation is still ongoing by the police," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
