While the video of an outraged woman after her car was hit by an elderly man went viral on social media, netizens were asked to make clear of their intentions for commenting and sharing the video on platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

Social media consultant and founder of Peace Meal, Zain HD said netizens should not share the video if they are going to criticise the woman driver by calling her names

"Netizens should ask themselves what is their intention for sharing the video. For example, if they are going to share the video then put a message that the girl's behaviour is a bad example. Or to let people who know her to advice her. Make that message clear.

He said cyber-bullying is unacceptable and spoke against negative comments or posting online the woman’s photos and personal information.

He said it was disappointing to see the growing trend of cyber-bullying and "keyboard warriors". He added that some netizens are also more concerned about their own popularity.

"Likes, Retweets and Shares are strong currencies on social media. Someone's criticism is based on the number of RT or shares they get. Their motivation then is not to correct her to become a better person but for them to become more popular.

"It's unfortunate that cyber-bullying is almost a sub-culture. To be a responsible member of society, netizens should start think of the solutions instead of continuing to insult the girl. Many applaud the elderly man in the video but it's ironic that some netizens react in an extreme manner," he continued.

Meanwhile, Zubedy (M) Sdn Bhd managing director and social activist Anas Zubedy said while it is okay to get angry, it should be done at the right level.

"It's okay to get angry. It is okay for the girl to get angry because it might be a new car. It's okay for netizens to get angry on how she treated the elderly man, but it must be at the right time, right place, right occasion, right level and right rate. It takes wisdom to do that.

"If we react with too much anger, then we are just like her," said Anas when contacted by Astro AWANI.

Anas's said the woman driver could be going through tremendous stress.

"She's a wedding planner and that is an extremely stressful job. She must be under tremendous stress. The amount of anger she showed was beyond normal," he said.

The entrepreneur also suggested that the woman meet the elderly man and apologise.

"That is the best thing to do. Give her the chance to apologise," Anas said.
