Police foiled terror attacks in Malaysia with the arrest of 15 Daish-linked suspects in the country.

The arrests which were carried out since March 22 until this morning involved the states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Selangor and Terengganu.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in a statement said a total of 11 men and four women aged between 22 to 49 were arrested.

They are all Malaysian citizens with various professional background, he said.

"One is a mosque imam, two are jobless, another one a policeman, one housewife and one a student," he said in the statement, adding that five more are working in the private sector.

Four other suspects are self-employed, he added.

Police also seized Daish-related documents from the suspects.

Khalid said the suspects were involved in various militant-related activities including recruiting and sending Malaysians to Syria to join Daish or Islamic State militants there.

"They were also trying to get the chemicals to make bombs here," he said in the statement.

Khalid said the suspects were also getting their orders from Muhammad Wannady Mohamed Jedi who is a Daish militant in Syria, to carry out terror attacks in Malaysia.
