Among the headlines for Friday, 16 April, 2021, Malaysia’s tally of COVID-19 cases stand at 338,168, remaining at the 45th spot in the list of 216 countries affected by the pandemic.

Malaysia is just ahead of Panama which recorded 352,082 cases, Slovakia with 354,182 cases and Saudi Arabia with 386,782 infections.

Also, due to the daily surge of more than 217,000 cases reported overnight in India, unrelated patients are sharing beds, while bodies of the recently deceased lie outside the ward before being taken to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, Brazil’s government is urgently seeking to import supplies of the COVID-19 vaccine amid reports of the seriously ill being tied down and intubated without effective sedatives.
