Tanker MT Orkim Harmony which was missing for nearly a week, arrived safely at the Kuantan Port at about 7am today.

The tanker was escorted home by Royal Malaysian Navy vessel, KD Handalan. The tanker with its crew members were saved by the RMN at about 2.30am, Friday.

Eight perpetrators were detained by the Vietnamese authorities yesterday after the men on lifeboats said their boats sank.

The authorities are still investigating the men and their identities.

Earlier yesterday, RMN chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar tweetedtleast eight hijackers were confirmed to beonboard, armed with pistols andparangs.

He said they also spoke with an Indonesian accent.

The tanker, which was first spotted in Cambodian waters on Wednesday after went missing for almost a week, was repainted from blue to black. It was also renamed Kim Harmon.

The tanker was carrying 6,000 metrictonof RON95 petrol worth RM21 million, when it was reported missing at 8.57 pm on June 11 while on it was en route from Melaka to the Kuantan Port in Pahang.

The tanker which is owned by Syarikat Magna Meridian Sdn Bhd had 22 crew members, comprising 16 Malaysians, five Indonesians and one Myanmar citizen.
