Eleven deaths involving road accidents were reported in Kelantan until yesterday since Op Selamat 11 was launched on June 18, said Kelantan police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan.

He said traffic personnel were being deployed to closely monitor fatal accident prone areas in the state, which saw 489 accidents reported since the launch of Op Selamat 11.

"In addition, only 10 per cent out of the 4,000 officers and personnel are allowed to take leave this year to look after the safety of properties and roads," he said.

He said this when met by reporters at a Hari Raya function at the Kelantan Rural Transformation Centre in Bandar Baharu Tunjong here today.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Senator Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Kelantan Federal Development Department (JPP) Director Yahaya Mamat were present at the event, which was attended by about 5,000 visitors.
