The number of landslide victims in the duty-free-island here rose to 19, from seven last week.

The new victims, including an infant, from two families from Kampung Tanjung Kubong were evacuated by the Layangan Fire and Rescue Department personnel led by its chief, Muhamad Azman Awang about 7.10 last night.

They were placed at the Layangan fire department's relief centre, along with the remaining seven victims from Kampung Sungai Bedaun.

“They are fearful of being hit by landslides in their respective areas,” Labuan Fire and Rescue Department director Zainal Madasin told Bernama today.

On Saturday evening, all 15 flood victims from Kampung Ganggarak returned home after the flood receded.

Labuan Parliamentary Constituency Community Service Office chief, Basran Yunus said financial assistance was underway to all flood victims, with a minimum of between RM300 and RM1,000 for each family.

Other villages affected by the landslides are Kampung Lubok Temiang, Sungai Bedaun, Belukut and Bebuloh Darat.
