The National Security Council has given out RM500 as aid to 1,235 flood victims from 276 families in Kuala Terengganu under the Natural Disaster Fund.

Tepoh State Assemblyman Ramli Nuh said the victims were placed at six flood relief centres and had registered with the Welfare Department.

"All the assistance from the Federal government has been given out to the flood victims. They will now wait for the Welfare Department to assess their damage, since it will take some time, I urge the flood victims to be calm.

"I am sure the assistance will reach the victims once the Welfare Department has verified the details," he told reporters after meeting trainees of Institut Latihan Perindustrian Kuala Terengganu here today.

He added that the people of Terengganu were very lucky since apart from the assistance provided by the Federal government, the the state government has also given out aid to flood victims,

"In Tepoh alone we have distributed aid amounting to RM300,000 to 2,807 students from 1,856 families.
