Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today announced that a cash aid of RM500 will be given to each family affected by the flood.

"As a sign of a caring government, I understand when it floods because I am an MP of an area (Pekan) often flooded. I know how hard and difficult their sufferings are,” Najib said at the UMNO general assembly.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, also urged all banks to allow flood victims to delay their loan payments.

On Thursday, Najib left the UMNO meet right after his policy speech to visit the flood-hit areas in Pahang.

The flood began in the East coast early this week in Pahang, and it has been the worst hit state so far.
