A Myanmar was found bludgeoned to death, following a fight with a group of compatriots behind a 'kongsi' of a housing project in Jalan Permatang Rawa here today.

The body of Ferus Ahmad, 26, was found about 8am, when he failed to turn up for work.

Penang CID acting chief, Supt Shahurinaim Jais said the police found a hammer near the body, believed to be the murder weapon.

He said Ferus' acquaintance, a Myanmar, in his 20s, was detained to facilitate investigations into the killing.

Shahurinaim said the victim who stayed at the 'kongsi' had worked as a carpenter at the construction site for the past four months.

Ferus had no travel documents, he said.
