Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) today announced the implementation of traffic management plans in three lanes as a key part of safety practice at all MRT construction sites.

In a statement today, MRT Corp said the right-most lane of the slip road from Pusat Bandar Damansara (Jalan Damansuria) into Sprint Highway (Petaling Jaya-bound) would undergo a week-long trial closure from July 8 to 14.

It said the trial was being implemented to allow MRT Corp and authorities to monitor the impact on traffic during the construction of MRT piers and tracks, together with the future Pusat Bandar Damansara MRT Station and Semantan MRT Station.

"If the trial closure is successful, this stretch will be temporarily closed for one year," it added.

The statement said another road lane closure was at Jalan Semantan where the left-most lane of the slip road leads from Jalan Beringin to Jalan Semantan (Kuala Lumpur-bound) in front of Menara HP and Wisma UN for a distance of 200 metres.

"The lane will be closed from 10am to 4pm, and from 9pm to 5am for six months from July 8 to Dec 8.

"This closure follows the successful trial closure which was carried out in June. The traffic management plan has been approved by the authorities and the highway concessionaire," it added.

The statement said there would be temporary partial lane closures which would be carried out in Jalan Damansara in front of Muzium Negara from 11pm to 5am from July 8 to July 28.

"Both city centre-bound and Bangsar-bound lanes will be involved. The closure will be implemented in stages across the lanes, with only one lane closed at one time," it added.

It reminded motorists to drive carefully near MRT worksites and follow directional signs.

"Safety barriers, hoardings and traffic cones will be installed at the work sites to ensure road users and pedestrians are well-informed of ongoing works.

"In addition, a 24-hour MRT Ronda will be patrolling along the routes to attend to any emergency," it added.
