Melaka Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is ready to mobilise 500 of its personnel in facing impending floods, especially with the current erratic weather conditions.

Its general manager Ahmad Rezahan said Melaka TNB was in a state of 24-hour standby for the possibility of floods, especially when it involved the supply of electricity to the flooded areas.

"This means if floods occur, we will dispatch a team to help the victims, but as our priority is to ensure safety, we will have to shut down the electricity supply first.

"However, if the water level is still safe, we will leave the supply on. Thus, we call for cooperation from everyone to give priority to ensuring safety," he told reporters, here.

After chairing a state executive council meeting today, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the state government had got ready all the machinery required and had taken precautionary measures for the expected floods in March. - BERNAMA
