Melaka will maintain the quota for Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in the state cabinet line-up, including two for MCA.

Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron said the 10-member Melaka state executive council would comprise seven from Umno, two from MCA and one from MIC, as was practised by former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

"We will still offer the two quota to MCA to be in the state executive council, but it is up to the party to accept or not," he told reporters after celebrating his 47th birthday at the Chief Minister's Office here today.

The swearing-in ceremony of the state executive council members is scheduled to be held tomorrow at Seri Negeri, Ayer Keroh here tomorrow.

Asked on the new faces in the state line-up, Idris declined comment.
