The decomposed body of a man was found in an oil palm plantation at Kampung Tongkang, here today.

The half-naked body of the victim, estimated to be in his 40s, was found by the plantation caretaker at 11am but there were no identification documents.

Seberang Perai Tengah Police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said a search was conducted in the area and a Proton Iswara car was found trapped in the mud, about 300 metres from the location where the body was found.

"Initial investigations revealed that the car was owned by a woman in Sungai Petani, Kedah and we are currently looking into the connection with the victim," Nik Ros Azhan said here today.

He said the body was sent to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for post-mortem and urged members of the public with missing family members or acquaintances or with information about the incident to contact the nearest police station. -- BERNAMA
