A male driver and his mother were killed and two others seriously injured in a collision, involving three vehicles in KM 7, Jalan Maharajalela near Teluk Intan, 100 kms from here last night.

Perak Hilir District Police chief ACP Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the driver of the Perodua Kancil had been identified as Nissamuddin Osman, 26 and his mother Norijah Sitin, 63.

He said Nissamuddin, who sustained serious head injuries, died at the scene and his body had been sent to the Teluk Intan Hospital for post-mortem while his mother died in the hospital.

"The two injured individuals are Nissamuddin's wife, Nur Athirah Mohamad Rosle, 19, who is five months' pregnant and treated at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital while Nissamuddin's niece, Syazatul Hasni Syaharuddin, 13, is treated at the Teluk Intan Hospital," he said when contacted here today.

He said all the victims are from Kampung Sungai Renggam, Mukim Kota Setia and on their way from Hutan Melintang to Teluk Intan.

He said in the 10.30 pm incident, the Toyota Vios vehicle driven by Tan Wei Soon, 29, from Teluk Intan to Hutan Melintang was said to have lost control, skidded and rammed into the vehicle driven by Nissamuddin.

"Another vehicle, a Proton Wira, then crashed into Nissammuddin's car, causing it to skid and landed in a ditch," he said, adding that all five passengers were safe.

The driver of the Toyota Vios, who did not sustained any injuries, was remanded for three days for further investigation, he said.
