KUALA LUMPUR: As of midnight Monday (Sept 26), Malaysia reported a total of 1,186 new COVID-19 infections since the pandemic started.

The country's cumulative total is now at 4,833,008 cases.

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), based on the data from the COVIDNOW portal,  from the total of cases reported last night, there was one imported case while the rest of 1,185 were local.


The highest cases were recorded in Kuala Lumpur (237), followed by Selangor (213), Sabah (125), Perak (110).

Other states that reported a 2-digit mark were Negeri Sembilan (90), Kedah (73), Johor (60), Kelantan (59), Penang (56), Sarawak (49), Malacca (47), Terengganu (35), Pahang (17), while Perlis detected eight cases and Putrajaya had seven.  

MOH also reported a total of 1,690 recoveries on Monday, taking the total number of active cases in the country to 24,021.

There are 1,094 COVID-19 patients who are hospitalised, of which 52 are in intensive care unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, there were seven COVID-related deaths recorded yesterday. 

The country has so far lost a total of 36,357 people to the virus since the pandemic hit the country.
