KUALA LUMPUR: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have announced Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) as the main sponsor of the national football governing body and the Harimau Malaya squad for three years until December 2026.

FAM announced this through a statement but did not disclose the value of the sponsorship, with both parties having collaborated since 2019.

FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said the collaboration not only reflected MAB's loyalty but also showed its dedication and commitment towards the national football arena.

"It also sends an important message to supporters of the national team that FAM are not only able to provide added value to their sponsor but can also have a positive impact on the national economic sector.

"I believe that with the presence of MAB as the main sponsor of FAM and the national football squad, we will be able to achieve more success together. May this collaboration drive both organisations towards excellence," he said in the joint statement.

FAM said the sponsorship agreement documents were signed by FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman and MAB chief commercial officer (Airlines) Dersenish Aresandiran. It was witnessed by Hamidin and MAB chief executive officer (Airlines) Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi at a hotel in Sepang on Monday (May 27).

Meanwhile, Ahmad Luqman said MAB is proud to be of service to the Harimau Malaya squad and provide continuous support to FAM through the collaboration, which is now in its sixth straight year.

"As a national airlines company, we are honoured to be able to continue with our efforts and responsibilities in flying the Malaysian flag in the international arena, in addition to supporting the development of sports in the country," he said.

In March, Malaysia Airlines forged a collaboration with English Premier League giants Manchester United by inking an agreement with the UK club as its official commercial airline.
