The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received an order from a Magistrate's Court, here to remand a businessman to assist in an investigation on a corruption case of more than RM500,000 involving a logging project in the East Coast.

Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab. Rahman ordered the man, with a 'datuk' title to be held in remand for five days beginning today.

According to an official from the MACC, the 64-year-old man was detained to assist investigation under Section 16 (a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009.

The man was detained by the MACC at his house in Bukit Jalil at 4pm yesterday.
