A livestock farmer sustained a gunshot wound in a finger when a gunman riding pillion on a motorcycle fired a shot at his lorry in Bukit Selambau near here today.

As a result, M. Yogeswaran, 30, lost control of the vehicle which was laden with cow feed.

The incident occurred about 5pm in Sungai Division.

Yogeswaran was warded at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here, where his condition was reported stable.

Kuala Muda police chief ACP Khalil Arifin said the shooting incident was not linked to any secret society.

He said the police believed that the victim might have known the gunman.
