KUALA LUMPUR:The dakwah programme, via a mosque’s official radio, provides an alternative medium and innovation in dakwah deliverance under the new norms in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

As such, he said that the setting up of Konti Jamek FM under Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) at Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque here, could be something to be emulated by other mosques in the country.

He said the approach would benefit the public who are living under new norms, having to comply with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) in mosques and surau, that limit the number of congregations including for lectures.

“Rarely we hear that a mosque has its own radio programme, so an effort such as this it is hoped will be emulated by other mosques and we can deliver dakwah appropriately and wisely, on matters that bring goodness,” he told reporters after launching the radio and Gerobok Muhibbah at the mosque here yesterday.

Also present were JAWI director Mohd Ajib Ismail and KK Supermart & Superstore Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai.

Earlier in his speech Zulkifli said interactive dakwah activities through a mosque’s radio is part of ‪2020-2024‬ Federal Territories Mosques Mobilisation Plan (Pelan Pengimarahan Masjid-masjid Wilayah Persekutuan ‪2020-2024‬) to mobilise the mosque’s management and implement congregation-friendly dakwah.

“The plan is also under the social, community and environmental core, which is to help the less fortunate group, and mosques must create a close relationship and co-operation with strategic partners to engage with those in need, particularly the ‘asnaf’ (tithe recipients) in Kuala Lumpur that are affected, due to COVID-19,” he said.

Konti Jamek FM, with tagline ‘Jauh Di Mata Dekat Di Hati’ is aired via Sultan Abdul Samad Jamek Mosque’s Facebook and Youtube page, with various segments hosted by the mosque’s staff.

The radio programme, which started operation since the implementation of the Movement Control Order, from 10 am to 10 pm, could also be accessed by an online application that can be downloaded from the Android Playstore for free.

Meanwhile the Gerobok Muhibbah, a collaboration with KK Mart, would become a basic necessities’ distribution centre to targetted groups, regardless of race or religion.
