Kelana Jaya Member of Parliament Wong Chen on Wednesday apologised to Goldman Sachs Malaysia managing director Datuk Yusof Annuar Yaacob for mistakenly citing his name in a question in the Dewan Rakyat.

"I admit that I mistakenly put Datuk Yusof Annuar Yaacob instead of (SRC International Sdn Bhd director) Datuk Suboh Md Yassin. For that mistake, I hereby now publicly and unreservedly apologise to Datuk Yusof Annuar Yaacob," he said in a statement.

In the question addressed to the Home Minister, Wong had asked about the whereabouts of Malaysian millionaire Low Taek Jho or Jho Low, former 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) executive directors Casey Tang Keng Chee and Jasmine Loo Ai Swan, SRC International managing director Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and Yusof.

The Home Ministry, in a written reply said the police had not been able to detect Low, Tang, Loo, Nik Faisal Ariff and Yusof.

Nik Faisal and Low are sought by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to assist in investigations related to SRC International while Tang and Loo are sought by Bank Negara Malaysia to facilitate investigations under the Exchange Control Act 1953 to assist in investigations related to 1MDB.

Meanwhile, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said Wong could be referred to the Rights and Privilege Committee for having made a wrongful accusation.

"I would like to remind people not to make accusations that are false or cannot be substantiated. He admitted his mistake in naming Datuk Yusof; he should apologise publicly," he told reporters at the lobby of Parliament House.
