PONTIAN: "I will not forget that I came from Benut," said Menteri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohamad, stressing that the development in Benut, which is located in Pontian district, would continue to be close to his heart.

Hasni, who is also the Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said he would try to bring more development to Benut towards changing the situation and landscape there so that it was not only famous for Burasak (traditional food of the Bugis community).

"I will also not forget the support I get from the people of Benut. Therefore, developing Benut will be my priority.

"We will try to change the Benut landscape. We will bring more development to this place. Benut is no less than other areas (in Johor) that we can be proud of."

Hasni said this when launching a poetry anthology, 'Untukmu Yang Bertandang', at Rumah Citra Sri Pinang in Benut today.

When met by reporters after that, the incumbent for the Benut state constituency, said he would continue with his duties as Menteri Besar if BN wins on March 12.

He also said that a full boarding religious secondary school would be built in Benut and it could be a source of supply of students for Kolej Universiti Islam Johor which was being planned.

"This development move is in line with the intention of developing an 'education avenue' in Benut town.

"This is because along the main road of Benut, there are schools and we have started measures to change the landscape and also the features in Benut town so that it has aspects of modernisation that can be introduced.

"I am confident and believe that it will trigger the next development," he added.
