KUALA LUMPUR:Former cabinet minister Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar said he had fun being a driver for car-sharing service Uber recently.

During his appearance on Obviously Harith Iskander show aired on Saturday evening, Wahid said the three-day stint was supposed to be a “private affair”.

“One of the passenger posted a selfie with me and posted it on Facebook and then it went viral,” he said.

When joked if he had picked up attractive women passengers, he immediately shared about an encounter with a female passenger.

“I expected her to sit at the back but she sat in the front passenger seat. Luckily no one took a photo of us. Even my wife didn’t know this story,” he said. 

Wahid, who helmed various corporations including Maybank also shared his early start in politics where he was grilled by the Opposition on unemployment issues.

“I felt better after that session and that gave me the courage to do other things in Parliament like tabling three bills,” he said.

Wahid ended his tenure as Senator on June 4.
