One million ringgit worth of jewellery gone in two minutes.

That was how quick five armed robbers worked after storming a jewellery shop in Jalan Sultan Iskandar here this afternoon.

In the 3pm incident, the men, all donning motorcycle helmets, charged into the shop and got away with more than half of the jewellery in the shop.

Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said there were no customers present at the time.

He said the lone security guard at the shop was held at gunpoint while the robbers removed the jewellery from the display cases.

The suspects then escaped on three motorcycles.

"The police are investigating if the guns are real or fake," Sum told reporters here.

No one was injured in the incident, he said.

Police are currently monitoring the footage from the shop's CCTV, he added.
