Gabungan Gerakan Merah Malaysia (GNGMM) chairman Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos has been remanded for five days, beginning today.

The remand order issued by magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali expires on Feb 7.

Jamal's lawyer Zamri Idrus told reporters when met outside the court that his client was being held to facilitate investigations into a gang robbery case under Section 395 of the Penal Code.

Jamal, who arrived at the Ampang Magistrate's Court at 10.05am today, was arrested at his residence at 3pm yesterday after a police report was lodged against him.

In December last year, Jamal who is also Sungai Besar UMNO divisional chief allegedly with other individuals 'raided' a number of premises believed to be carrying out illegal gaming activities in Ampang, Selangor. -- BERNAMA
