Azwan added the had received a call from Azmin's wife, Datin Seri Shamshidar Taharin on Friday evening.

"We spoke at length last night but she did not dissuade me to contest. Please do not misunderstand. We talked about other things," he said.

The Gombak seat will see a five-cornered fight between Azmin, Pakatan Harapan's (PH) Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Barisan Nasional's (BN) Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) candidate Datuk Dr Aziz Jamaludin Mhd and independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad.
