KUALA LUMPUR: A former Terengganu State Assemblyman (ADUN) has denied his involvement in an alleged case of outraging the modesty of a friend’s wife that had gone viral recently.

Former Air Putih assemblyman, Datuk Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid, 51, has come forward to deny the allegation following a police report made by his friend on March 16.

On the other hand, Wan Ahmad Nizam claimed, the report made by the couple who live in Taman Melawati, Ampang was a mere fabrication and aimed to tarnish his reputation and humiliate him.

Wan Ahmad Nizam, who is also the former Kemaman UMNO vice-chief, told Utusan Malaysia that he and his wife had never spent the night at the couple's house as claimed because they had a residence in Kuala Lumpur.

At the same time, he added, he had expected the matter to happen following the initial threats he received from his good friend last Sunday.

Revealing it to the media, Wan Ahmad Nizam claimed that his friend had owed him RM200,000 and his inability to pay back led to their friendship becoming strained since September last year.

“At about 4 pm last Sunday, he and his wife came to my house in Geliga, and said he wanted to discuss about the debt.

“But suddenly I was punched twice besides my head and body were thrown with flower pots repeatedly until I could not get up, before he left.

“I informed him that I would report the incident to the police and he threatened me not to do so or he would do something that could humiliate me.

"Suddenly, the story came out that I molested his wife," he explained.

Wan Ahmad Nizam lodged a report at the Chukai Police Station before his friend was arrested by the police in Ampang, Selangor on Friday but he was allowed bail.

Terengganu police chief Roslee Chik confirmed the incident report and the case is being investigated under Section 324 and Section 427 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Nizam said that he is leaving it to his lawyer to take further action regarding the molest allegation.
