The son of former Inspector-General of Police, Tun Hanif Omar who was found dead early Tuesday morning, has been last to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery this afternoon.

Despite the heavy downpour, almost 100 family members, relatives and close friends attended the funeral of Ahmad Jamal Omar Mohd Hanif.

Former deputy IGP Tan Sri Hussein Ismail and former Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Tan Sri Mohd Zaman Khan Rahim Khan also attended the funeral.

Hanif and his family members, however, declined to be interviewed.

Meanwhile, Shah Alam police chief ACP Zahedi Ayob said, the victim did not fall into a drain as initially reported but was found dead next to his car by a friend.

"The deceased was believed to have just sent back his friend in Section 11, Shah Alam about 4.30am and when he was about to go back home, he suddenly collapsed and was found lying motionless beside his car," Zahedi said.

His friend then called the ambulance before lodging a police report at 6.25am.

The case was classified as sudden death.

Prior to the incident, the deceased was believed to have gone to Damansara with some friends.

It was understood that a post-mortem conducted at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang found that Ahmad Jamal had died of internal bleeding.

The victim had, last October, underwent a brain operation.

Ahmad Jamal leaves behind widow Melati Yahya, 36, and two boys aged six and seven. He was 40 years old.
