Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today admonished certain quarters for equating government assistance provided to the people with animal feed or 'dedak'.

In a Facebook posting uploaded today, he said, it is not proper for government aids such as schools, houses and roads be labeled as animal feed which is given to animals.

He added that whatever the aid given, it is because the government is concerned about the well-being of the people.

He also requested those involved not to use nonsensical issues, simply because they have no other points to speak against the government.

The issue came about when earlier this month, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad reportedly said: "People who support Najib either don't know what is happening, or they have 'dedak' (animal feed) in their mouths."

He said this when speaking at a press conference after delivering a keynote address at a DAP-organised forum in Sekinchan, during the Sungai Besar by-election campaign track, on June 11.
