Civil servants must be more dedicated and sincere in carrying out their responsibilities parallel to the benefits and incentives accorded them by the government.

Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Datuk Omar Osman said civil servants must shift their mindsets from concentrating on pushing for their needs to be given attention to prioritising the government's desire to improve the public service delivery system.

"Civil servants are obligated to be competent in their role to assist the government which had responded positively to many of their demands, which their counterparts in other countries do not enjoy," he told Bernama here today.

Omar also said civil servants aged 40 and above should go for a medical examination to ensure that they were healthy and could continue to contribute their services effectively until their retirement.
