Apartment and low-cost house tenants in Sri Johor, Sri Pulau Pinang, Sri Melaka and Taman Ikan Emas in Bandar Tun Razak here will be offered houses costing RM28,000 a unit when the government redevelops the existing sites.

Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Ministry secretary-general Datuk Adnan Md Ikhsan said the tenants would be offer one unit of 800 sq ft house each which can be settled in cash or through the Federal Territory Foundation's funding scheme or bank loans.

"If they do not want to buy, they can continue to rent one of the new houses," he said in a statement here today.

The redevelopment of the apartments and low-cost houses in Sri Johor, Sri Pulau Pinang, Sri Melaka and Taman Ikan Emas in Bandar Tun Razak expected to start in April and is scheduled to be completed in two years.

Adnan said the project also involved the development of the entire surrounding areas to be more conducive and comprehensive with commercial space as well as attractive recreational facilities.
